Ashley Klein is Komen OC’s newest staff member and will work directly with Race for the Cure Teams!

Ashleigh knows all about starting a Team, recruiting Team members and fundraising. For the last four years, Ashleigh has been the Team Captain for Tough Titties, a Team started between a friend and Ashleigh in honor of the survivors in their lives. To date, Tough Titties has raised close to $50,000 for Komen for the Cure!

Below are two simple tips from Ashleigh:

Talk about your Team – to everyone! I told everyone I came in contact with about my Team and why the Race was personally important for me to be a part of. I used lots of enthusiasm to convince people to join my Team and it worked! You can also give some facts. It’s hard for someone to turn down an invitation to join a Team or donate money when you let them know that 1 out of every 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.

Don’t be afraid to ask! Asking for money can be uncomfortable even in the best economic times, but I have found that many people want to donate to charity. They just need to be asked! Ask family, friends, co-workers….even local businesses! Let them know that even $15 will bring us closer to ending breast cancer forever. For more tips contact Ashleigh at teams@komenoc.org
