Did you know that about half of all the participants at the Komen Orange County Race for the Cure are part of a Team? In 2009, there were 793 Teams at the Race and they raised $1,698,595.00 in the fight against breast cancer. Teams are fun because you can share the fund raising and planning for Race Day with your fellow workers, friends or anyone you are bonded with.
Team “Think Pink” is a prime example. They created a calendar to raise money for their Team this year – the 16-month Breast Cancer Survivor Calendar — and it goes on sale July 15. They’re also doing an event called “Survivors Under the Stars” on Saturday, July 31. Their goal? Think Pink hopes to recruit 125 members and raise more than $20,000 by this year’s deadline of October 31. The Team was created in 2008 by Huntington Beach resident Gail Ross in honor of a friend’s mother who died of breast cancer. In their first two years they have donated more than $25,000 to Komen Orange County via their Race Team. They exemplify inspiration and teamwork!
