Celebs Give Gift of Song For Komen OC on #GivingTuesday

We just celebrated a day of thanks and what has become a long weekend of in-store and online holiday deals. Today, join us as we celebrate #GivingTuesday™ – a day of giving back.

Komen Orange County has launched its second holiday jingle campaign today on YouTube which features a handful of familiar faces – some new and some previous Komen holiday jingle participants – generously donating their time and voices to sing about funding mammograms to the tune of “Jingle Bells.”

Last year’s jingle helped Komen OC net a 53 percent increase in donations during the holiday season. This year, we are confident that with your help, this campaign will make an even greater impact in our community!

So, take a minute, close your email and put down those holiday shopping lists. Lend your eyes and ears to this clever video which we hope will raise awareness and funds for life-saving mammograms this holiday season:

Who do you think belted the best? Consider making a donation today at http://www.komenoc.org/jingle. For every $125, Komen OC can provide a no-cost mammogram to an underserved or uninsured woman in Orange County.

Visit our partner page at Giving Tuesday to learn more about our #GivingTuesday campaign.

This year’s holiday jingle was created by our marketing communications and public relations firm, HKA, Inc. Marketing Communications with filming and editing generously provided by Contexture International.

We Won! Komen Orange County Wins Nonprofit IT CreativITy Award

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month kicks off, we’re proud to announce that we have been honored with a Nonprofit IT CreativITy Award from GroundWork group Orange County, for our work using innovation and technology to achieve our mission of serving women and men and saving lives. This is our first award from GroundWork group Orange County, in the Community Engagement category, for our 2012 holiday jingle campaign, along with other technological advances we’ve implemented to achieve our mission.

Komen Orange County values its ability to provide vital breast health services to under-served and under-insured people in the community. That’s why it’s crucial for us to raise funds and awareness for the importance of early detection and screening.  Last year, we tapped our PR agency, HKA Marketing Communications, to develop a creative year-end appeal asking the public to donate funds for life-saving mammograms. The result was a catchy tune and video that helped us bring together familiar faces to make a big impact in our community. We’re also gearing up for our second Komen holiday jingle, featuring a new song and fresh faces, so be sure to stay tuned!

We’re grateful for the continued support we receive from our community, which makes all the diagnostic and treatment programs we are able to fund possible express our gratitude for making the 2012 jingle an award-winning success!

Here at Komen Orange County we do our best to keep up with the ever-changing technological landscape. With that said, we are very pleased to announce our place as a finalist in the Orange County Groundwork group’s Nonprofit CreativITy Awards, which recognizes nonprofits using innovative strategies to advance their mission.

We were recently nominated for our star-studded, viral, holiday jingle  and couldn’t be more proud of the response it’s received from Groundwork group Orange County  and from our social media communities. In partnership with our public relations firm, HKA Marketing Communications, we were able to create a video that communicated a serious message about the importance of mammograms – and in a fun way – to raise much needed funds during a critical time of the year.

For many years we’ve been at the forefront of providing life-saving care for women in need and are now advancing this mission by embracing all aspects of technology. Now, through innovations like our holiday jingle, technology-friendly platforms, like our mobile fundraising app or our text-to-donate number (KomenOC to 50555 to donate $10), we’ve been able to expand our public outreach to increase breast cancer awareness and education within the community and beyond.

As a finalist, we hosted representatives from the Groundwork group Orange County at our Costa Mesa office this week to film a short video about our vital work and how we’ve been using technology to raise awareness and funds to benefit women and men in our community. As part of the video, some of our musically-gifted and inspiring colleagues sang the creative jingle and joined the process with the crew filming the submission. The video will be up later this month on Groundwork group’s website. Stay tuned to learn more about what went into making the jingle and how Komen Orange County is keeping at the forefront of technology to make our message of education and awareness available across different platforms of media!
